Terence Blacker has been compared to a dizzying variety of singers\u00a0 – from Georges Brassens to Loudon Wainwright, from Jacques Brel to Jake Thackray\u00a0 – but his songs are very much his own.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

By turns heartfelt, quizzical and humorous, they cover all the Seven Deadly Sins, with a few modern ones thrown in for good measure. He looks at his life in our increasingly strange and strident world and, with bemusement and wit, tells stories of the great\u00a0 and small issues of our times \u00a0– \u00a0fake news, local heroes, marriage, abroad, English blues singers, online rage, inappropriate uncles, growing old while feeling young, and so on.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Terence has performed at festivals, folk clubs and theatres in the UK and abroad. He has written and presented \u00a0Taboo-Be-Do!<\/strong>, a BBC Radio 4 series on the history of politically incorrect music, and has taken a one-man show to the Edinburgh Fringe.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

This year he launched his new show The Shock of the Old<\/strong>, a celebration\/investigation in song and word of the joys and pains ageing, 21st<\/sup> century-style. Now touring theatres across England, it was described by one its first venues Chorley Theatre as \u2018a cracking show\u2019..<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

In December 2022, he releases his fifth album Meanwhile…<\/strong>, which was produced by Lukas Drinkwater. His 2020 album Playing For Time <\/strong>was selected by the Sunday Times as one of its Top 100 Albums of the Year.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Terence is also widely known as an award-winning author of books for adults and children, a broadcaster and newspaper columnist.<\/p>
